State lawmakers should leave healthcare alone

The state is again debating a House bill that would cut nearly $650 million from the state’s upcoming budget set to take effect July 1.

The cuts which were originally expected to total nearly $1 billion, were caused by the expiration of a penny sales tax. A special session was held to renew that tax, but it failed without being adopted.
