On Monday, Sept. 1, government entities across the parish will be closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday, including the Lake Arthur Town Hall, Welsh Town Hall and Maintenance Department. Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury, all branches of the Jeff Davis Parish Library, Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office and Jeff Davis Parish School Board Office. The Jennings Daily News will also be closed on Monday and resume regular business hours on Tuesday.

The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury approved moving forward with increasing various tax millage rates in a recent special meeting. A public hearing will be announced to discuss the rates available for increase and the various adjustments for each.
The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury is nearing approval of a point-to-point agreement with Caldwell Parish in the event of an emergency. The Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEP) Committee discussed moving forward with the set partnership plan recently, in case of an emergency event requiring evacuation. JDP officials later finalized the details with Caldwell Parish during an in-person meeting.
