Pelican State's forestry sector has been in a long-term decline

The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury has decided to call an election for the extension and rededication of sales tax proceeds currently used for the parish jail facility. Approval by voters would allow for funding reallocation to help operate the new animal shelter.

The Jennings City Council approved an ordinance this week to establish minimum requirements and regulations for the placement, construction and modifications of solar power plants in the city.

The Jeff Davis Parish Tourism Commission is looking forward as board members recently discussed events and plans for expanded attractions in the parish. The attractions would cater to children, adults, families and potential tourists with ideas for expanding more children’s features, outdoor recreational equipment rentals, public music events, parish tours and fall and Christmas activities.
