Lawmakers scramble to avert government shutdown

(The Center Square) — Washington, D.C., lawmakers are scrambling to prevent a partial shutdown of the federal government this Friday.

A Senate stopgap bill has picked up momentum, which would keep certain government functions operating until March 1 and March 8. The proposal would allow lawmakers the opportunity to finish the dozen outstanding appropriations bills.
