The Jennings Bulldogs will kick off their 2021 regular season tonight after a murderous preseason slate that saw the Dogs battle 5A powers Barbe and John Curtis to open the season. Now, Jennings face the 4A Leesville Wampus Cats at Jerry Simmons Stadium to open the non-district slate in a game that has become a highly competitive one over the last two seasons. Leesville won the 2019 season opener 48-41 in overtime, while the Dogs defeated the Wampus Cats 56-41 in an epic comeback a season ago. Jennings leads the overall series 17-4 dating back to 1934.

The Kaplan Pirates scored early and often in their 33-13 victory over the Tigers in the shortened game. The Pirates scored 25 unanswered first-half points, before the Tigers were able to put up two scored in the second half to make the final 33-13. Lake Arthur Head Coach Tarius Davis discussed his team’s performance, and pointed to continuing to get better on both sides of the football.
