Lake Arthur senior guard Katherine Leonards signed with LSU-Alexandria this week to extend her basketball days into college. Leonards was named to the 6-2A All-District Team, All-Parish Team and also was voted as the Class 2A State Championship Game’s Most Valuable Player. PORT BARRE - The No. 10 Lake Arthur Lady Tigers Softball team started slow, but finished strong against the No. 7 Port Barre Lady Devils in the regional round of the Class 2A playoffs. Port Barre led 10-3 going into the sixth inning, only to see the visiting Lady Tigers rally in the sixth and seventh innings to take a thrilling 12-10 win.

IOTA - In a battle of Lady Dogs in the first round of the softball playoffs, it was No. 12 Iota taking a 10-2 win over visiting No. 21 Jennings. Iota’s bats came alive early and lead 10-1 after five innings, but a determined Jennings defense rose to the occasion and prevented Iota from getting a 10-run rule victory. The game was highlighted by tag outs by both teams at home and on third base.
