A collaborative book effort honoring the heroic service of local veterans was recently published by Jennings High School 1967 alumnus Dave Precht called In Country: War Stories from Jennings Vietnam Veterans.

ELTON — Residents and local business owners are invited to a meeting tonight to discuss options for keeping the town’s recreational area open without imposing a financial burden on an already cashstrapped municipal budget.

A Block Off Broadway Community Theatre, in conjunction with Jeff Davis Arts Council, is gearing up for its festive performance with two weekends’ worth of chances to catch the holiday hilarity.

A day highlighting youth and adults in the area with special needs is scheduled for this weekend. Hosted by Different Voices, One Community Foundation, the event is intended to bring together area residents to meet others with similar needs, enjoy activities and explore available resources. The event starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at North Cutting Park, located at 1103 North Cutting Ave. in Jennings.
