The Diocese of Lake Charles Altar Society recently held their annual February conference at the St. Mary's Center in Jennings that featured a special collection of rosaries from all over the world. The rosaries were collected by Jennings High School graduate John Semmes for his sister Estelle Semmes Monic. Monic later donated the collection to the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist Museum in Lafayette with an understanding that the collection could be used for educational purposes.

City officials here are gearing up for the annual City of Jennings Mardi Gras Festival happening this weekend.

Communityleadersfromthroughouttheparish gathered on Tuesday at SOWELA Technical Community College in Jennings for the annual Legislative Breakfast. Those in attendance were updated on what’s to come from state lawmakers during the upcoming legislative session. The event, hosted by the Jeff Davis Parish Chamber of Commerce, was emceed by board member Rodger Mallett. Special guest speakers were District 37 Rep. Troy Romero, District 25 Sen. Mark Abraham, District 36 Rep. Phillip Tarver and District 42 Rep. Chance Henry.

The good times were rolling on Saturday in Lake Arthur for the town’s annual Mardi Gras parade. With over 50 floats and a herd of horse riders, revelers of all ages celebrated the Carnival season with a bang.
