WELSH — Welsh town officials met this week to approve a measure that would allow funds from Welsh Economic Development District 1 to be deposited in an account to keep them separate from other monies. Mayor Karl Arceneaux asked the Welsh Board of Alderman to consider opening a special checking account at JD Bank for the dedicated tax. The district allows the town to recoup monies spent on infrastructure for any businesses that move into the area. “This will allow us to better track the funds dedicated to paying us back for the sewer lift station, electrical transformers and any road improvements the DOTD (Department of Transportation and Development) would make us do,” he said.
