WELSH — Residents here will soon benefit from two road projects that aim to make travel through Welsh a bit easier.
The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury appointed Roger Mallet as their new representative on the parish Economic Development board with a tie-breaking vote by Jury President Butch LaFargue. The jury’s previous appointee, Tony Trahan, was unable to fulfill the remaining one-year term expiring at the end of the year. The board chose between two nominees, Roger Mallet nominated by Juror Steve Eastman and John Morceaux nominated by Tim McKnight, with juror option to name and vote for a separate person, if desired.

Jeff Davis Electric members will have a scheduled power outage on April 14 to replace a pole. Officials announced the outage is scheduled to last two hours beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
