Elton woman shares unique collection, heartfelt Christmas memory

The Welsh Fire Department was notified of a house fire off U.S. 90 in Welsh on Wednesday afternoon. The department responded with two firetrucks and called the Jennings Fire Department to bring a tanker truck. WFD Chief John Hall said the structure was on fire in the middle and back south side of the home when crews arrived. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Ashley Lewis of Jennings and Teresa Anne Fontenot of Welsh were named two of the Jennings Daily News Holiday Coloring Contest winners. Classifieds Manager Jennifer Mouhot awarded the winners $25 for their hard work.

Elton Elementary School first graders performed the Cajun 12 Days of Christmas and Snowflake. In addition to singing, the students also had choreography in their short production.

Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Jennings Daily News Great Grocery Giveaway, Maggie Conner and Mona Myers. Classifieds Manager Jennifer Mouhot awarded Conner, who registered at the Town of Lake Arthur, a $75 gift certificate from Lyon’s Market in Jennings and and Myers, who registered at Market Basket in Lake Arthur, received a $50 gift certificate from Market Basket.
