Two parish softball teams went head-to-head this week when Lacassine traveled to Jennings for a contest on the softball diamond.

The Lake Arthur High Tigers welcomed the Lacassine Cardinals this week for a battle on the baseball diamond. The Tigers came out on top, winning 8-3 over the visiting Cards.
The Hathaway 13-14 Girls Lil’Dribblers team dominated their state tournament over the weekend to cap off an undefeated season. In the state contest, the girls defeated Elton; 32-8, Bell City; 31-25 and Midland; 40-22. For the finals, they faced Bell City again on the hardwood, winning 18-16.
The Jennings Diamond Dogs broke a six-game losing streak, defeating the Chargin’ Indians of Washington-Marion High by a score of 17-0 in a mercy rule shortened contest Friday night at Danny Reed Field.
The Lake Arthur High Lady Tigers recently tangled with the Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy Lady Tigers, North Vermillion High Lady Patriots and the Welsh High Lady Greyhounds. It’s been a mixed bag for Lake Arthur, winning two games and losing one. The Lady Tigers were victorious against the LRCA Lady Tigers and the Lady Hounds, 24-14 and 24-2, while they came up short against the Lady Pats, 0-16.
The courts of Jennings High School hosted the Jeff Davis Parish Tennis Tournament last week, welcoming teams from Jennings, Welsh, Lacassine and Hathaway for the two-day event. In girls’ double action, in an all-Lady Bulldogs final, the team of Allyson Langley and Adeline Oustalet defeated fellow Lady Dogs Adylin Daigle and Grace-Ann McCleery in straight sets 6-0 and 6-1 to take home the championship.
The Lake Arthur Tigers recently finished a four-game trip around the district, taking on Lafayette Renaissance Tigers, Welsh Greyhounds, Hathaway Hornets and Church Point Battlin’ Bears. The Tigers lost their first two games on the road – 14-15 to the Tigers and 5-9 to the Greyhounds. The team rallied during the second two away games, defeating the Hornets 16-0 and the Bears 6-2.
WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds baseball team hosted their district rivals, the Lake Arthur Tigers, on Thursday at Sportsman Park. Welsh took a 5-2 lead in the first inning and a 6-2 lead in the second inning. Lake Arthur would make it a 6-5 game in the fourth inning. Welsh would score two runs in the fifth inning and a run in the sixth inning for their 9-5 win.
