Ned's late interception seals 25-23 victory

WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds have advanced to the regional round of the District 4 non-select state football playoffs by virtue of their 42-20 win over the Basile Bearcats last week. Welsh will be at home again this week when they host the number nine White Castle Bulldogs this Friday night. White Castle finished the regular season with a 7-2 overall record and defeated Varnado soundly last week. Welsh will enter the fray with a sparkling 8-3 overall record.

The No. 10 Jennings Bulldogs are coming off a bi-district win over the Kaplan Pirates last week, but have since turned their attention to the St. Martinville Tigers in round two. The No. 26 Tigers are coming off of a huge upset over No. 7 Leesville by a final of 46-40 on the road last week. The Tigers come into the contest with a 4-7 record, however the record is not indicative off how talented the St. Martinville team is.

Two coaches fired already

WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds used a quick-strike offense and a smothering defense to defeat the Basile Bearcats by a 42-20 score in the bi-district round of Division-4 non-select state playoffs. With the win, the Greyhounds advance to the regional round and will host White Castle next Friday night. The win gives the Hounds an 8-3 overall record, while Basile finishes with a 5-6 overall mark.
