Carter, LCCP run past Jennings 43-32 in league opener
LAKE CHARLES — The Jennings Bulldogs made the short trip to Lake Charles last Friday to take on their district mate, Lake Charles College Prep Trailblazers, at Navarre Stadium on the campus of McNeese State University. The two teams exploded for scoring fireworks in the contest; however, the Blazers were able to come out on top by a final of 43-32 behind a fourth-quarter surge. The Bulldogs led the contest 20-19 at the end of the third period; however, the offenses went crazy in the fourth stanza. LCCP running back Ayden Carter continued his dominance in Southwest Louisiana by rushing for a game- high 241 yards on 28 totes and a trio of TDs and also returned a 90-yard kickoff late in the game for a score. The Prep offense ran the football for just over 320 yards on the night and capitalized on some huge drives late in the contest. Jennings had over 250 yards of offense in the contest, and Chris Ned threw for a trio of TDs in the loss. Chris Ned tossed the pigskin for 125 stripes, while also running it for 60 more. Humphrey Ned had a pair of TDs in the contest, while D.K. Sams had a beautiful onehanded grab for a score in the fourth quarter.
