(AP) - A person with knowledge of the punishment tells The Associated Press that at least three NFL head coaches have been fined $100,000 for violating the league’s rules that they wear face coverings on the sideline.
With the National Football League and NCAA football already beginning to roll in, the LHSAA will allow their schools to participate in scrimmages beginning this Thursday and Friday. The contests will be the only preseason action before season openers a week later, set for the first weekend of October. All three Jeff Davis Parish (JDP) Schools are set to host scrimmages this week, with Jennings High hosting 4A Leesville at Jerry Simmons Stadium on Thursday at 5:30. Welsh will also go on Thursday as well, and renew an old rivalry with former district mate Kinder at Greyhound Stadium on the campus of Welsh High School at 5:30.

ELTON – For the first time in over 50 years, the Elton High School (EHS) Indians will not field a high school football team in the coming 2020 season. Low numbers affected by the COVID-19 virus ultimately made the decision for EHS Head Coach Donnie Bruchhaus to shut down operations for the season.
After months of debating whether high school football would be played in the state of Louisiana during the 2020 season, the answer finally came on Wednesday. The LHSAA executive committee unanimously voted in favor of playing its fall season, but actually moved up their originally planned start date from Oct. 8-10 to Oct. 1-3. LHSAA Executive Director Eddie Bonine stated that schools could actually begin contact drills immediately, no matter what Covid-19 Virus reopening phase the state was in. It had originally been stated that high schools would not be able to start contact practice until Louisiana moved into phase three of the reopening process.
