ELTON — The Elton Indians have a tall order to open the regular season, as they travel to face the St. Edmund Blue Jays tonight to kick off week number one.

After a solid jamboree tilt against the Sam Houston High School Broncos in which the Jennings High Bulldogs won 16-13, they have turned their attention to a good Iowa High School Yellow Jackets football team. The Bulldogs looked solid in their win over the Broncos and hit some big plays on offense to lift them to the victory.

WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds will open the 2025 regular season tonight by traveling to face the Kinder Yellow Jackets in a non-district affair. Kinder had a brief run in class 3-A due to an increased student population, but those numbers have now receded, and the Yellow Jackets are back in the ranks of class 2-A schools. Kinder fared well in the Allen Parish Jamboree, as they defeated both Oberlin and Oakdale.

LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur Tigers are coming off of a great showing in the Greyhound Jamboree last week where they blasted the Grand Lake Hornets 21-0 in an abbreviated contest. The Tigers used a potent ground attack to roll up over 225 yards in just two halves of play. Now, the Tigers will turn their attention to a Basile team they will face in week one. Looking back on their contest with Grand Lake, Lake Arthur Head Coach Tarius Davis had praise for his team and explained there was lots of improvement in a week’s time.

WELSH — It was a tough night for the Welsh Greyhounds in their jamboree effort, as the Hounds dropped a 12-0 decision to the St. Louis Saints in the abbreviated affair. Two lost fumbles and a host of penalties kept the red and black offense from being able to sustain any drives for the night. The hosts started well with their first possession, but two consecutive motion penalties derailed the march.

WELSH — The Lake Arthur Tigers wrapped up their preseason slate last Friday when they travelled to Welsh to compete in the Greyhound Jamboree.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Travis and Trevor Etienne have to go back to their childhood to find a game in which they were on opposing teams. Even then, they were merely playing for fun.

Jennings now set to open season with Iowa at home

The Elton Indians made quick work of Gueydan and Berchmans Academy at Cleve Beard Stadium Thursday night in jamboree action. The Indians took down the Honey Bears 14-0 in the first game of the night, while popping Berchmans 16-0 in their second contest.
