Jennings High School senior softball player Kylie Price signs her National Letter of Intent to play college softball with Dillard University of New Orleans on Thursday at the school. Price was a four-year starter for the Lady Dogs and earned All-District and All-Parish for all four years she played. Price was also an honor student at JHS by accumulating a 4.2 grade point average and graduated on Friday night. The Bleu Devils are an NAIA school that has had much success on the diamond. Price received an athletic and academic scholarship totaling $96,000 over a four-year period. She is joined by her family at her signing ceremony.

Welsh goes 1-1 in Sulphur to cap off great season
The Jennings High School Bulldogs travelled to Sulphur on Monday to have a controlled spring scrimmage with the Golden Tors of Sulphur High School. The Dogs showed tons of promise by outscoring the Tors in both the controlled portion of the scrimmage and the live portion. Liam Leblanc had the first score of the controlled contest with a 57-yard TD run. The Dogs scored twice in live action when quarterback Chris Ned scampered in from 25 yards away. The Dogs’ second score came when defensive back Humphrey Ned recorded a 40-yard pick six. The Dogs will now have summer workouts for the next few months until the season kicks off in mid-August. Jennings was 10-2 last season and won an outright district title.
Hathaway High School's Kaitlin Sawyer made a huge splash at the Class B State Track and Field Meet on May 8 by winning a trio of state championships. Sawyer defended her titles in the 1600 and 800 meters and also added a third title in the 3200. Sawyer also earned Outstanding Female Athlete by winning her three titles. She ran the mile in 5:14.46, just four seconds off the state record. She finished the 800 meters in 2:21.60, just two seconds off the state record and finished off her triple by taking the 3200 in a time of 12:00.75.
