Cardinals honored with state championship pep rally

LACASSINE — Lacassine High School recently held a local pep rally to celebrate the newly crowned Class B State Champion Cardinals’ basketball team at John Juneau Gymnasium. The Cardinals captured their first crown since 1961 at the Burton Coliseum earlier in March by defeating the Avoyelles Public Charter Vikings in the Class B title game. The pep rally featured the newly crowned state champions, along with a moving speech from Cardinal Head Coach Micah Rasberry, who thanked his players for their dedication, buy-in and consistent work even without immediate results.

CROWLEY — The Welsh Greyhounds baseball team traveled to play the Notre Dame Pioneers Tuesday night in Historic Miller Stadium in Crowley. With second place in district 6-2A on the line, the Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. The Hounds would tie the game one all in the fourth. The Pioneers would score three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings for a 7-1 win.
