HICKS — The Jennings Bulldogs picked up their fifth win of the season Thursday at the Hicks High School Tournament by toppling the Oak Hill Rams by a final of 12-6. The Dogs pounded out 10 hits in the win and got good pitching performances from Addison Finley and Tyler Guidry. Finley went 5 innings and allowed only three runs on six hits. Guidry came out of the pen and tossed the final two frames and allowed three runs on three hits. Grayson Whitehead led the hitting charge for the Bulldogs by collecting two hits in four trips with a run driven in.

The Jennings Lady Bulldogs needed only two short innings of work to put up 20 runs on the Lake Arthur Lady Tigers in Thursday’s non-district matchup at Tom Precht Field. The Lady Dogs pounded out 12 hits and scored 20 runs to claim a 20-2 win over the Lady Tigers. The win moves the Lady Dogs out to 5-2 on the season, while Lake Arthur fell to 2-2 overall. Jenna Morvant and Kylie Price shared the duties in the circle for the Lady Dogs, each pitching well in their time. Morvant tossed two innings and only allowed two runs on three hits and struck out one. Price came in and threw the final frame and struck out the side for the Dogs. Jennings was able to pick up 10 runs in both the first and second innings, leading to a 15-run rule victory after two and a half innings would be complete.

No. 1 Cards blast Fairview to advance to quarterfinals tonight

CAMPTI — The Elton Indians basketball team traveled to Campti to play the Lakeview Gators in the regional round of the playoffs. The No. 14 Indians couldn’t get some easy shots to go in and trailed 14-4 at the end of the first period. The No. 3 Gators used their offensive speed to take a 28-14 halftime lead.

Two JHS lifters qualify for state meet in inaugural season

A trio of Jennings High football players signed their National Letter of Intent to play college football on Friday at the school. Re’ John Zeno, Davien Edwards and Jamell Davis all inked their scholarship forms at Gaudet Gymnasium with students, friends and family looking on. Zeno signed with Millikin University in Illinois after finishing an illustrious career at Jennings High School. The running back is a twotime All-District MVP and was named to the 2024 All-State team as well. Edwards signed at Washington-Jefferson College in Pennsylvania after capping off a stellar career as a Bulldog. The defensive end was a two-time All-District selection and was also named to the All-State team in 2024. Davis is staying close to home and inked with the Centenary Gents in Shreveport. Davis is also a two-time All-District selection and was also a member of the 2024 All-Parish Team.

Lady Tigers show out in regional meet

LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers picked up a pair of wins this week over the Basile Lady Bearcats and the Hackberry Lady Mustangs. The Lady Tigers toppled Basile by a final of 17-7 on Wednesday and then dumped Hackberry 6-2 on Thursday. In the game against Basile, Addison Abshire and Jalea Prudhomme combined to go a perfect 7-for-7 in the game at the plate, guiding the Tigers to a big 10-run rule victory. Gabby Sellers pitched 3.2 innings to start the game to collect the win, while Layla Gautier came out of the bullpen to toss the final two frames. Sellers allowed seven runs on 11 hits and struck out one. Gautier didn’t allow a single run or hit in her work and struck out one Basile hitter.
