OBERLIN — The Lake Arthur Tigers snapped a three-game losing streak on Thursday night by trampling the Oberlin Tigers by a final of 77-22 on the campus of Oberlin High School. The win moves the Tigers out to 7-7 overall on the season and they currently sit at No. 11 in the latest Division IV non-select power ratings. The Tigers placed nine in the scoring column in Thursday night’s win, including three in double figures. Kaden Guidry led the charge for the Tigers by popping in 16 points, while La’Nell Shankle chipped in 11 and Marlon Williams sank 10 points. The Tigers were back in action on Friday when they travelled to Elton to face the Indians and then return home on Monday to square off with the Hathaway Hornets in another parish match-up.

After a big win over the Welsh Greyhounds on Monday night, the Jennings Bulldogs bounced back again on Tuesday and picked up another victory over the Lafayette Christian Knights (LCA) at Gaudet Gymnasium. The Dogs toppled the Knights by a final of 65-56 to move to 9-7 on the season. The Dogs used another big night from senior guard Jeremy Legros to lead the way for the Bulldogs. After smoking the nets for 31 against Welsh, Legros came back with a 25-point performance against LCA. The Dogs also placed two more players in double figures, with Humphrey Ned going for 13 and Chris Ned hitting 11. The Dogs are back in action tonight when they hit the road to Hathaway to battle the Hornets in a parish showdown.

The Jennings Bulldogs and Welsh Greyhounds squared off in a big parish battle Monday night at Gaudet Gymnasium on the final day of winter break. The Dogs used a gigantic first half to build a huge lead then withstood a late Greyhound rally to claim an 87-68 win. With the win, the Dogs improved to 8-7 overall, while the Hounds fell to 3-7. Jennings was back in action on Tuesday night when they hosted the LCA Knights in a big non-district match-up. Welsh was back in action on Tuesday as well as they played host to the East Beauregard Trojans. The Dogs used a pair of huge nights by Jeremy Legros and Chris Ned to pace the scoring attack. Legros canned 31 points, while Chris Ned dropped in 30 to push the Dogs to the win. Jonavon Begnaud has a big night for the Hounds as he poured in 22 points, while Sawyer Guinn dropped in 19 on a big shooting night.

LAKE ARTHUR – The Lake Arthur Tigers used a dominant first half of play to take a 68-36 win over the Elton Indians in a parish showdown at “Nooky” Moore Gymnasium this week. With the win, the Tigers improved to 5-4 on the season, while the Indians dropped to 3-8 overall. The Tigers used a 23-point explosion from Zavier Drake to help guide them to victory and led the entire way throughout the ball game. Breyon McZeal and Kyson Daniel also hit double figures in the win with 10 points each. Kelian Crosby led the charge for the Indians by scoring 13 points in the loss.

HOUSTON – LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier threw for 313 yards and three touchdowns as the Tigers handled the Baylor Bears on Tuesday afternoon to capture the Kinder’s Texas Bowl, 44-31.
