Jennings finishes season at 9-4
The Jennings Bulldogs are coming off of a huge 25-23 victory over the St. Martinville Tigers in the regional round of the Division II non-select playoffs last Friday night, but now have their sights set on a powerful No. 2 Cecilia team heading into the quarterfinals. The Cecilia Bulldogs come into the quarterfinals after pummeling the Iota Bulldogs by a final of 70-30 in the regional round. Cecilia comes in with an overall record of 10-1, with its’ only loss coming to 5A Southside in week two of the regular season.
WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds will hit the road for the first time in the state playoffs this Friday when they travel to Logansport to take on the number oneranked Tigers in the state quarterfinals. Logansport dominated a good Franklin High team last week, while the Hounds handed White Castle a ticket to the basketball season.
WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds rolled up 414 yards of offense and played a very physical defense to blow out the White Castle Bulldogs by a 54-18 score in the regional round of the class 2-A non-select state playoffs. Welsh will advance to the quarterfinals, where they will travel to face the number one-ranked Logansport Tigers next Friday night. With the lopsided win, the Greyhounds move to 9-3 for the season. The hosts scored with their first five possessions to put the contest away early. The Hounds took the opening kickoff and promptly motored 62 yards in five plays to strike paydirt. The payoff came on a 34-yard burst by senior tailback Hayden vanNess with 9:32 still to play in the opening stan-za. Junior Brecken Haydel booted the point-after to hand the Hounds a quick 7-0 lead.
