Metal Mastery
Recreational Blacksmith Dave Schwellinger demonstrates how to shape metal using his portable forge. Emphasizing the critical role air plays in the process, he deftly cranks the handle that stokes the fire and intensifies the heat. He then begins to shape the metal into a cooking utensil using an anvil and a hammer. With each strike, the red-hot metal takes on a new form, slowly bringing Schwellinger’s vision to life.
