Diamond Dogs rally in seventh to top Iowa, 12-7
Trailing 5-3 heading into the final inning of their important 4-3A contest with the Iowa Yellow Jackets, the Jennings Bulldogs rallied to score nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to claim a 12-7 win. The game was played at Danny Reed Field because Iowa’s field has not yet finished repairs from damage due from Hurricane Laura. The two teams met in their second leg of district play Tuesday afternoon in Jennings again. With the win, Jennings improved to 6-11 overall, 1-2 in league play.
Conner, Tigers shut out ESA 6-0
LAKE ARTHUR – The Lake Arthur Tigers picked up their tenth win of the season on Monday afternoon by blanking the Episcopal School of Acadiana (ESA) Falcons by a final of 6-0 at Dicky Chapman Memorial Complex. Tiger southpaw Cason Conner tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout in the win, while the Tiger bats banged out eight hits in the win. Lake Arthur upped it’s record to 10-7 overall, and were back in action on Tuesday afternoon when they traveled to take on the Hackberry Mustangs in a non-district clash.
Lady Cardinals cruise through Vinton, 9-3
VINTON – The Lacassine Lady Cardinals continued to flex their muscles on the softball diamond Monday afternoon by blasting the Vinton Lady Lions by a final of 9-3. With the win, the Lady Cards improved their overall record to 15-5 and currently sit at No. 6 in the Class B Power Ratings. Senior catcher Giselle Fuentes capped off an eight-hit attack by going 3-4 with three RBI’s, and Taylor Talbott spun a complete game in the circle by striking out 10 Vinton hitters.
