BELL CITY – The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers kept on rolling Thursday when they ripped past Grand Lake by a final of 76-47 on the opening day of the Bell City Bruin Tournament. The Lady Tigers used a game-high 32 points from LSUE signee Kali Hornsby to lead the way to the blowout victory. The Lady Tigers also dropped in nine 3-balls in the big win. With the victory, Lake Arthur upped its’ overall mark to 5-2 on the season, and played Choudrant on Friday afternoon in their second contest of the tournament.

ELTON – The Jennings Lady Bulldogs raced out to huge halftime lead over Plainview, then coasted the rest of the way to earn a 44-28 win in the opening game of the Elton Indian Classic on Thursday. Jennings placed nine players in the scoring column, and built an insurmountable 33-9 lead at the break en route to their 16-point victory. With the win, Jennings upped their overall mark to 7-3 on the season, and took on St. Edmund in the winner’s bracket of the tournament Friday afternoon.

ELTON – The Elton Indians powered their way past the St. Edmund Blue Jays in the late game at the Elton Indian Classic by a final of 65-39 at Oris Guidry Gymnasium. The Indians built a huge 49-19 lead at the halftime break, and coasted their way to the 26-point win. Elton placed nine players in double figures in the win, with three going in double figures.

The Welsh Greyhounds went on the road and won their first contest of South Beauregard High School’s Duel in the Dungeon over South Beau by a final of 72-47. With the win, the Hounds improve to 2-1 on the young season. Cale Navarre led the Hounds by popping in 15 points, while LaTroy Pattum and Damien Hebert added 11. Jode Janise also hit double figures for the Greyhounds by chipping in 10.

The Jennings Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs pulled out wins this week, going a perect 4-0 going into the weekend. The Lady Dogs grabbed wins over Iota, Abbeville and Plainview, while the Bulldogs took down Iota. Both teams were back in action on Friday when the Dogs welcomed Breaux Bridge and the Lady Dogs continued play in the Elton High Tournament. Daily News phot

OPELOUSAS – For the second consecutive day, the Lake Arthur Tigers (LA) earned another lopsided win, this time on the road against Westminster Christian Academy (WCA). The Tigers used the scoring of Ray Levi and Kenyon Boese yet again to claim the 61-40 win. Coming off of a 24-point showing against Midland on Monday, Levi scorched the nets for 23 this time around, while Boese nailed four 3-pointers and 18 points in the win. The Tigers moved their record to a perfect 2-0 on the young season, and will return to action on Monday when they travel to face off with the Iota Bulldogs.
