On April 16, several members of the Jeff Davis Volunteer Family and Community traveled to Houma to attend the state convention. The National Rifle Association Foundation recently awarded Jeff Davis Parish 4-H with a grant of $3,328.24 to fund clay targets, 12-gauge shotgun shells and 20-gauge shotgun shells for its shooting sports team.

Each year, Louisiana 4-H awards over 30 scholarships to graduating seniors throughout the state. Recipients must complete an extensive application consisting of project, leadership, citizenship and community service experience and 4-H honors and recognition, along with outside 4-H experiences and an impact-focused narrative. The scholarship winner from Jeff Davis Parish was Camille Sonnier from Lacassine High School. She was awarded the Faul Family Scholarship for $1,000.

TIt’s the time of year when Star Wars fans from across the galaxy gather to celebrate May the 4th, also known as Star Wars Day. Inspired by the iconic catchphrase uttered in the first film of the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: A New Hope, May the 4th has grown in size and enthusiasm over the years. Fans who don’t want to limit the Star Wars celebrations can keep the festivities going all month long.

There’s perhaps no better occasion to show off your kitchen skills than Mother’s Day, a perfect opportunity to turn the tables on mom and let her relax while you handle cooking duties. A homemade breakfast - or better yet, letting her sleep in for brunch - is a sure way to win her over and show how much you care.
