WELSH — The Town of Welsh has experienced problems with its water system. A six-inch waterline broke down on Tuesday and was repaired.

(The Center Square) — U.S. demand for gasoline, diesel, and other transportation fuels dropped sharply last week, according to federal data released Thursday, continuing a months-long trend of falling domestic consumption as record-high retail prices squeeze consumer pocketbooks and strain the trucking industry.

The Jeff Davis Parish School Board and district officials plan to continue discussions this week on the best way to allocate the new sales tax stipends to school employees. Officials will discuss Thursday about how to distribute revenue from the parish’s new halfcent sales tax approved to provide additional compensation for school system employees.

Public records fee proposal remains under review The Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury is moving forward with proposed regulations for tiny homes and new administrative fees for certain permitting exemptions, while a separate proposal involving fees for large or complex public records requests remains under review. Jurors recently accepted recommendations from the parish Ordinance Committee to establish definition and permitting requirements for tiny homes and add a $25 administrative fee for several permitting exemptions and corrections.
