LAKE ARTHUR — Jeff Davis Parish schools will participate in a fundamental skills day this week to promote student inclusion. The Jeff Davis Parish School Board is partnering with Special Olympics Louisiana to bring some friendly competition to parish students. The annual Special Olympics Track and Field Day will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 19, at Lake Arthur High School, located at 4374 Tiger Lane.

TheLouisianaDepartmentofTransportation and Development announced the left lane of I-10 eastbound from mile marker 44-46 will be closed from 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17, to 5 a.m. Wednesday, March 18. The closure is necessary for crews to conduct asphalt milling operations.
