The Jeff Davis Parish Landfill Commission spent much of its recent meeting debating a question that commissioners agreed extends beyond the value of dirt. At issue was a request by landfill operator Republic Services to excavate approximately 15 acres of soil from recently acquired landfill expansion property for daily cover operations.
