A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Peter’s the Apostle Church in Gueydan, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. for our mom, Dorothy Vincent Bourque, 93, who died on Friday, April 17, 2026 at the Gueydan Memorial Guest Home. Father Stephen Irudayasamy, HGN, will be the officiant. Readers for the funeral mass will be Justin Ardoin and Kerri Broussard Ardoin. Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Matthews Funeral Home in Gueydan from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. A rosary was led by her daughter, Janelle Hoffart, at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in St. Peter’s the Apostle Catholic Church and continue until her funeral mass begins at 9:30 a.m.

Dominican Sister of Peace Monica Myers, OP, 98, a native of Estherwood, died on Feb. 13, 2026 at Sansbury Care Center, St. Catharine, Ky. Sr. Monica is survived by a brother Phil Myers of Jennings, and a sister Marjorie Broussard of Lake Arthur. Sr. Monica was a former member of the Eucharistic Missionaries of St. Dominic, New Orleans. She happily transitioned with sisters from both religious congregations when they became the Dominican Sisters of Peace in 2009.
