LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur Tigers picked up a big win over the Grand Lake Hornets this week by downing their guests 62-49. The Tigers placed four players in double figures in the win, with Zaiden Hagger leading the way with a team-high 13. Lake Arthur built a comfortable 31-16 lead at the halftime intermission then cruised to a 13-point victory in the second half. The win moves the Tigers out to 12-10 overall on the season and currently sit at No. 11 in the latest LHSAA Division IV Non-Select power ratings. Grand Lake dropped to 14-10 overall on the season with the loss.

ELTON — The Elton Indians picked up yet another victory this week by plowing through the Oberlin Tigers by a final of 45-31. The Indians have won four straight contests recently and moved their record to 9-10 overall on the season. Oberlin dropped to 1-22 on the year. The win moves the Indians to No. 20 in the latest LHSAA Division IV Non-Select power ratings. Senior guard Tristan Leblanc had yet another big night for the Indians by pouring in a game-high 18 points in the win. He was the only Indian player to hit double figures.

Lady Dogs fall to No. 5 South Beauregard

LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur Tigers and Notre Dame Pioneers basketball teams opened district 6-2A play in “Nookie” Moore Gym Friday night. The Tigers held a slim 21-19 halftime lead and would outscore the Pioneers 13-3 in the third period.

CROWLEY — The Lake Arthur High School Powerlifting team enjoyed another successful outing at their meet hosted by Crowley High School. The Lady Tigers took home a team title at the event, while the Tigers showed out with many trips to the podium. It is the second time the Lady Tigers have taken home a team title at an event held in Crowley and Tiger Head Coach Alan Bryant had big praise for both of his squads competing.

MERRYVILLE — The Elton Indians came up with a big win in their district opener against the Merryville Panthers this week by earning a 58-56 win on the road. With the win, Elton improved to 6-10 overall, 0-1 in league play. Merryville fell to 3-22 overall, 0-2 in district action. The Indians used the scoring of Tristan Leblanc and Jaylin Thomas to lead the way in their close win. The two combined for 39 of the Indians 56 points in the contest. Leblanc had a game-high 20, while Thomas was able to pop in 19 in the win. The Indians trailed at the half but rallied back in the third and fourth quarters to ultimately earn the hardfought victory.
