HATHAWAY — The Hathaway Lady Hornets hosted the Choudrant Lady Aggies in the first round of the Class B playoffs Tuesday night. Hathaway led 21-11 at halftime, then 38-23 at the end of the 3rd period. Hathaway would go on to take a 54-43 win over the Lady Aggies.
The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers
The Jennings Diamond Dogs picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday by blasting the East Beauregard Trojans by a final of 12-1 from Danny Reed Field. The Dogs started the young season 0-3 after a pair of one-run losses in the Danny Reed Classic last week but rebounded nicely using great pitching and timely hitting to secure the big win. The Dogs benefitted from eight East Beau walks and needed only four hits to score the 12 runs. East Beauregard also hurt themselves in the field by committing five errors to aid in the Bulldog attack. Addison Finley was dominant on the mound for the Bulldogs as he went five innings and allowed only one earned run. The right-hander struck out seven and allowed just three hits and one walk on the evening.
ELTON — The Elton Indians hosted the Class C Reeves Rebels in a non-district game Tuesday night. Elton took a 20-10 lead at the end of the 1st period, but Reeves made a comeback as they made six treys to trail 36-30 at halftime.
LACASSINE — The Lacassine Cardinals won another district title Friday night by blasting the ESA Falcons by a final of 75-27. The Cards won their 26th game in a row to move to a staggering 27-1 on the season. The No.1 Cards will now await the playoff announcements on Sunday to find out who they will draw. Lacassine will surely be a lock to draw a first-round bye in the opening round. With the loss, the Falcons fell to 11-16 overall and are clinging to the last playoff spot in Class B. The Cards put four players in double figures in the win over the Falcons, with Kane Broussard leading the way with his 19-point outburst. The sharp-shooting Cardinals nailed 11 3-pointers in the win over ESA.
The Jennings girls’ and boys’ basketball teams hosted district rival Westlake Friday night in Gaudet Gym. In the Lady Dogs final game of the season, the Lady Rams led 20-15 at halftime. The Lady Rams would outscore the Lady Dogs 26-14 in the 2nd half to take a 46-29 win.
ELTON — The Elton Indians picked up another win at home Thursday night by defeating the Sacred Heart Trojans in a low scoring contest at Oris Guidry Gymnasium. The Indians trudged out to an 11-10 lead at halftime but turned it on in the second half to claim a 32-24 victory. The Indians have won six of their last seven ball games over the last three weeks, that includes a second-place finish in district 4-1A. Elton is currently ranked No. 19 in the latest Division IV non-select power ratings in the LHSAA, and will undoubtedly hear its name when playoff pairings are released in a week. The Indians were led in the low scoring contest by Jaylin Thomas, who pitched in a game-high 10 points to guide the Indians to victory. Elton improved its overall mark to 11-11 on the season, while Sacred Heart of Ville Platte fell to 10-14.

GRAND LAKE — The Elton Indians picked up another win this week by edging past the Grand Lake Hornets by a final score of 41-36. The Indians made it five of their last six with the win and improved to 10-11 overall on the season. The Hornets fell to 14-11 overall with the loss. This gave the Indians sole possession of second place in the district standings behind undefeated Hamilton Christian. The Indians were back in action on Thursday night as they played the Sacred Heart Trojans in a non-district contest. The Indians currently sit at NO. 19 in the latest Division IV non-select power ratings, while Grand Lake was listed at No. 21.
LAKE ARTHUR — The Lake Arthur boys’ and girls’ basketball teams celebrated Senior Night Tuesday when they hosted their district rivals, the Welsh Greyhounds. In the girls’ game, the Lady Hounds took a 12-11 first period lead. However, the Lady Tigers would take a 28-22 halftime lead and roll on to their 69-36 win.
